Why Are My Progressive Lenses Blurry?

Progressive lenses are optical lenses designed for simultaneous correction of far, medium and near. Progressive lenses use polishing technology to achieve a gradual transition between the two focal lengths. With progressive lenses, people do not have to switch their glasses for different purposes.

However, with the usage of progressive lenses, there are some problems of progressive voices. One of the most commonly reported side effects of progressive lenses is blurry or fuzzy peripheral vision. The blurriness is usually most noticeable through the lower portion of the lens and to the left and right of near and immediate zones.

So, why are my progressive lenses blurry on sides? It can be caused by a lot of reasons, and we will list some of them.

The strength of progressive lenses is the factor that leads to initial peripheral blurriness. Progressive lenses tend to be blurry on the sides because each lens promotes three fields of vision. In addition, peripheral blurriness or haziness is a sensation that typically develops because more than one lens has been incorporated into one lens. The wearer also might feel as if he or she is moving from side to side.

How to Get Used to Progressive Lenses?

In this section, we will show you how to get used to progressive lenses.

  1. Always wear them. If you try and ease your way in by changing them with your previous glasses, it will take a longer time to adjust.
  2. You need to find and use new areas in your lenses instead of using whatever space is most convenient.
  3. Make sure you have a comfortable frame that is adjusted for your face.
  4. Make sure that the optician fits the lens in the right way with the right equipment.

So, if you have difficulty getting used to the progressive lenses, try the above ways.

I have been wearing bifocal glasses for many years, probably 15 or more. I have not had any issue.
However, recently my prescription changed and my new glasses are causing me difficulty. When I returned to my Highstreet optician I was told that the type of bifocals that I previously had (referred to as gls) is no longer available unless I go to specialist opticians and pay a considerably higher price.
It sounds like a cock and bull story to me. is there any truth in it, do you know?
My problem with my new glasses is that I am required to move my head frequently to get clear vision and avoid blurriness
